Daniele Cima was born in Milano, Italy, in 1950, as a direct descendent of Otto and Camillo Cima, protagonists of the late nineteenth century arts and cultural scene in Milan in the fields of poetry, literature, journalism, painting and caricature. His maternal grandfather, Marino Parenti, was also a valued painter and a very active figure, involved in a number of areas on the cultural scene. For his part, Daniele Cima in the seventies, eighties and nineties has been a well-known art director and graphic designer, a key figure in Italian creativity and design, particularly appreciated for his ability to combine rigour with visual experimentation and his steady search for unusual creative solutions with a clear sensitivity for aesthetics. Someone has even defined him “best italian art director ever”. Starting from the new millennium, he mostly dedicated himself to pure art, through the creation of some series of artistic projects, characterized by precise basic concepts, accompanied by executions of remarkable graphic virtuosity. All Cima’s artistic journey has been marked by the escape from the obviousness and his sophisticated mocking of any rule, which, however, are very well known to him. He is a transformer, capable of making the ugly beautiful, the sad lively, the boring interesting. Daniele Cima knows how to perceive reality differently and propose it differently, through shapes and color combinations that represent his personal way of interpreting it, based on oxymorons: rigorous but unpredictable, logical but imaginative, ordered but surprising, carefree but profound, cold but hot. Daniele Cima’s artistic production expresses a strong vital energy, a positivity, a hope, an optimistic vision that brings us back to the phenomenon of pop art, which has always been his point of reference. All his artistic work of the last thirty years is documented in the volume “Coming Out”, edited by Eugenio Alberti Schatz, published by Antiga Edizioni, released in 2021, and was exhibited at:
